Our History
Across five decades, we've grown alongside our customers, delivering robotic systems and industrial automation that raise the bar for quality, performance, and reliability.
In 1970, our company started with a small facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Founder Vernon L. Melton rented the space and began operating under the name, Melton Machine & Control Company. As demand grew, so did we. Only five years later, in 1975, we moved operations to Washington, Missouri, expanding our physical space and our offerings.
In 1985, Melton became 100% employee-owned, a milestone that reshaped our culture and strengthened our customer relationships. Since then, we have grown our footprint, added new technical capabilities, and broadened our reach, including the acquisition of Computech Manufacturing Company in 2010.
Today, we operate out of a 365,000-square-foot facility on the aptly named Melton Drive in Washington, MO, where we continue to build our workforce and provide exceptional solutions to our customers.
